Who has access to your Credit Report?
The Fair Credit Reporting Act sets the rules about who has access to your report. A credit report can be accessed by those with a 'legitimate business need including:

- Landlords
- With your consent, employers and potential employers for employment purposes
- A state or local child support agency
- Government agencies

In other words, a company is allowed to get your credit report if you apply for credit, insurance, employment or to rent an apartment. Employers and potential employers may also have access to your report but only with your consent.
